Ryson Acumen finds that his time of service to the people of Uton is not yet complete. Together with Holli Brances and Lief Woodson, they must work together once more to end a growing threat and to meet their own undeniable destinies. Their cause is not without loss or sacrifice as they struggle to battle grotesque forces of malevolence. Under the conniving guidance of the serp Sazar, legions of dark creatures rise out of Dark Spruce Forest and the serp turns his lustful eyes eastward. Targeting the outposts and farmlands surrounding Connel, Sazar forms a dark army to conquer the human city.

Even as Ryson and his elf friends struggle against such foes, they look to the powerful wizard Enin for aid, but the spell caster remains withdrawn from nearly every clash. It is within him to decimate the entire horde, but the consequences of such intended actions trouble Enin's very soul. An understanding of balance has taught the wizard more than caution; it has led him to the presence of a being of equal power, but a creature with intentions of malice. Enin's unwillingness to interfere in the choices of individuals is born of the belief that he must allow all those around him to seek their own path as well as their own ultimate fate.

I really love the Devler Magic series.

The author managed to create a fantastic world which is not a mere duplicate of other fantasy setting. The characters are not out-of-the-mill types and interact in complex manner which really contributes to the plot. Another important feature of the series is that each book really stands on its own, there are no "unfinished business" to be solved in the next book leaving the reader with a feeling that the author simply decided to cut the plot in the middle.

The bad news are that in this book all this really unique atmosphere of the series is somewhat lost and the book is not as good as the previous ones. Some of the characters go "out of their way" to act like themselves and some simply act uncharacteristically. Moreover, characters tend to carry long speeches which do not always fit in the setting they're in (e.g. meeting an adversary). All these hurt the "realism" of the story which was so well crafted in the previous ones.

The good news are that in spite of all these issues the book is still a good one (I did not give it 4 stars for nothing). If you're a Delver Magic fun (as you should be if you read the first two books) you should definitely read this one. I will definitely buy the next part of the series and I'm quite sure I'll enjoy it as well.

Delver Magic Book III Balance of Fate edition by Jeff Inlo Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I'm a bit late reviewing this as I've read the entire series already and therefor don't have the freshest memories. Due to that I can't go into details but can say that the entire series was wonderful. All five books are exceptionally well written, having characters you'll find yourself caring about and each plot has its fair share of action and intrigue. I would recommend them all.
Is a series that has kept me looking forward to reading the next book at the end of every section of the story,
when my E-Book is not in my possession I open them up on my I Phone and continue reading. When I read I sometimes prefer to get lost in another world, when our world is in such turmoil. This series is a cool way to keep entertained.
I love this series, and even though I am a tight wad, I would gladly pay more for the rest of these. The author deserves much more praise then some of the other hacks that take way more money for their slush, and I wish more people knew about his work. However, I am sure Mr. Inlo doesn't really care about the money, but rather more about producing excellent works for as many people to enjoy as possible.
This is the third book in the Delver magic series that I feel is the best thus far. I read the whole book in a day of laziness. There is plenty of action and suspense, although some the characters can be a bit long winded. Although I hate for good characters to die, I think it makes for a more realistic story. Although it took me a while to get around to reading these books, they have not disappointed thus far. I plan on reading the entire series.
Just finished reading the third and final book of Delver Magic. Thoroughly enjoyed all three. I look forward to reading more by Jeff Inlo....
I see complaints about typos and proof reading, and, while there were some errors, found that it did not make the books any less readable or enjoyable.
Loved the delver, loved the elves, the magicians, the dwarfs, the goblins, the serp, the river rogues, well, you get it, ALL the magical creatures.......I even thought the humans were ok! The interaction between all the "species" was great. Definitely a story well told! Thanks Jeff!!
In Balance of Fate, Jeff Inlo completed his Delver Magic Trilogy. It is as consistently fascinating and captivating as the rest of this trilogy. We see the sorcerous, Tabris, turn to the dark side, still blaming Ryson for her decisions. Most interesting in this volume is Inlo's ability to mix philosophy with a fascinating story. It was the most philosophical of the three books. I suspect, though, that without these discussions, Enin's inaction would be really frustrating. In the end, though, he finds his balance. Lief, Matthew, Enin and Ryson all met their fates - some went to their rewards in the afterlife, some continued on. It's a wonderful story. I'll miss these characters now that the trilogy is over. We'll have to see if Inlo has any plans to take them further.
I have now read three of this Delver Magic series, I have the rest of them to read, so good I ordered all that was in this series, I like how it ends where you dont have to read next book unless you want to. Each books starts out with a different element in the story, so it is continueing the same characters but with a new adventure not really related to the previous book. The author ends the book with an ending so you arent left hanging to the next book. Enjoyable read, fast to follow along and you even start getting a favorite character you like more than the others.
I give this a five star as it is really well written and fun to read.
